After a lovely lunch with Iris and Chris yesterday, I rolled toward the city to have dinner with Mel, and then we went to the Pink concert. She totally rocked. That woman is amazing–a fantastic voice live, and a brilliant show. She’s in town for months…and months (I think she has something like 16 concerts in Melboune alone), so if you get the chance to see her, do it. It’s simply the best concert I’ve ever seen.

On Friday, Kasey and I checked out Wolverine. Loved it. Okay, it wasn’t a brilliant bit of movie making and yep there were some plot moments that didn’t really make sense, but did I care? Not a damn bit. I went there to watch a fun, exciting movie, and that’s exactly what I got. With the bonus of Hugh naked as well. How could you go wrong? I thought the story of the two brothers was well done, and that it dovetailed nicely back into the first movie. And I wouldn’t mind seeing a movie about Gambit–that dude looked interesting. (I’m not a comic book fan, so I don’t know all the history–which is probably why I enjoyed the movie so much).

Here’s the update–such as it is:

Story–Captured by Vengeance

New pages – 0
Time spent writing – also a big fat 0
Current page count – 110
Intriguing things – chocolate hair. Love the colour, but dithering as to whether it suits.
Annoyances – can’t think of any.
Music – Pink! Live in concert–brilliant stiff
Location – writing wise, no where
Taking care of Keri – Mum and daughter night out–pancake parlour for dinner, then checking out wolverine
Muse food – how good did Hugh look in that movie?

It’s my turn to post over at the Deadline Dames today, so head on over there is you want to read it. Here’s my writing update for Thursday:

Story–Captured by Vengeance

New pages – five
Time spent writing – three hours
Current page count – 110
Intriguing things – the love scene was written. Things about to go to hell in a handbasket
Annoyances – wet feet leading to half frozen toes when walking the dogs. Man it gets cold up here in Kilmore!
Music – Back to The Script today
Location – The desk. Word.
Taking care of Keri – Visiting fellow Lulu Robyn and finally meeting her beautiful little girl!
Muse food – A piece of Boston Bun from Ferguson’s. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I didn’t go to the gym today, which totally threw out the body clock and confused the dogs. They kept looking at me, wondering what the hell I was doing there disturbing their sleep. lol. But I had a builder in today, repairing the holes caused by taking out the old upright gas heater. He’s also installing some shelves in the laundry, which means I can get rid of the ratty metal unit I’ve been using. He hasn’t finished yet, so I’ll be home tomorrow as well. Which might be a good thing, because tomorrow was weigh-in day at the gym–and though I haven’t been eating chocolate, I also haven’t been sticking strictly to the diet. :)

But good progress was had on Riley 9. Here’s the rundown:

Story–Captured by Vengeance

New pages - Eleven
Time spent writing – ten hours, off and on
Current page count – 105
Intriguing things - Quinn apparently co-owns a spa and pampering resort in St. Kilda. He and Riley are currently making full use of it.
Annoyances - Trying to write a love scene when there’s all this hammering and sawing going on. Said love scene was eventually skipped, and will be written when there’s less distractions.
Music - Cirque Du Soleil, Varekai
Location - The desk. Word.
Taking care of Keri - another cuppa tea in front of the TV, this time watching The Mentalist.
Muse food - A low fat white chocolate drink for afternoon tea–delicious, but low in calories. The muse was in heaven (but still couldn’t produce that love scene).

Fellow lulu Mel has a really cool idea for updating where her writing is at, and I’m about to steal it. Mainly because I’m always pushed for time of late and this seems like an easy format to follow. So, thanks Mel!

Progress–Captured by Vengeance

New pages - Nine
Time spent writing – six hours, off and on
Current page count – 94
Intriguing things - A hooker turning up when there wasn’t even supposed to be one in the story.
Annoyances - I need chocolate. I can’t have chocolate. Dieting sucks.
Music - The Script
Location - The desk. Word.
Taking care of Keri - Mid-writing break, a cuppa tea in front of the TV, watching Sense and Sensibility.
Muse food - how delish does Alan Rickman look as Col. Brandon? Who’d have thought?

I’m heading over to lovely, sunshiny Perth for the next couple of days. I’m presenting a workshop on worldbuilding and doing a chat at RWAustralia’s Romance Roadshow. Details can be found here — and there’s still spots available if you’re interested.

I’m also doing a booksigning at Temptation, the romance bookstore, on Thursday 21st May, between 4 and 6 pm. They can be found at  Lot 13 Crossways Shopping Centre, Corner Rokeby & Bagot Rds. Subiaco. If you happen to be in the area, drop by for a chat!

Just remember that daytime for US folks is night time for me, so there may be some delays in answering questions–I need to sleep at least part of the night, or gym the next day could get dangerous!

to all the mum’s out there. Hope the day is filled with lots of love :)

and because I couldn’t post this the other day, I’m posting it now. Here’s the cover for Devon’s fab new book, Magic in the Blood:

I love Star Trek–but I’m an original trekkie rather than a fan of the more recent series. No Next Generation for this little black duck! Hell, I even used to go see marathons in cruddy old movie theatres (mainly to see the blopper reels. lol). I also love the parodies of the Onion Network News, and when they decided to do a feature on the new Star Trek movie, well, I had to share (btw, I love the look of the new movie, and I’m definitely going to see it–but I need to check out Hugh’s form in Wolverine first.  :)   )

onto the update…well, I’d barely gotten home from our trip (read here, the brain was still in travel mode and the body was beginning to suffer from the screwed up sleeping hours it had endured over the last few weeks), when the edits for Bound to Shadows came in, so I’ve been ass-down at my computer trying to get those done. I’ve also been trying to keep a writing schedule for the next book–6 pages a day is what I need to do from now on in if I’m to have any hope of getting the last book finished on time. So far I’ve managed the required amount of pages, but some days, putting those words on paper really feels like teeth being pulled. I won’t get anything done this weekend, as it’s Mum’s Day here in Oz on Sunday, and I need to visit my mums. And today will be a washout, as I need to visit the lawyer. But hopefully I’ll be able to write a few pages tonight–if I don’t try to keep up with the schedule, I can see me getting into deep do-do come August (hand-in day).

I have some great pics from both RT and our holiday, and once I get my act together and reduce the size of the things, I’ll start posting them here and on my website.

Oh, and while I remember, fellow deadline dame Devon Monk has a new book out–Magic in the Blood. Head on over to her website to check out the details (I’d post the cover but my ftp program has screwed up and won’t let me into my website at the moment!)
