the edits for Beneath a Rising Moon, that is. Although I think I’m pretty much done at the moment, too. lol. Sadly, I barely have time to sigh in relief because the next two lots of edits have been shipped and should be landing on my doorstep any day now. Don’t you just love the way the editors clear their desks for the Christmas break? lol These next edits are due back late January and early February respectively, so it means I’m not going to get much of a break over the holidays. I’m guess its lucky I’ve got a good start on Risa 3, because writing it might be a bit hit and miss over the next few weeks (depends on just how extensive the edits are)

In other writing news…well, there’s really nothing to report. I’m still out of contract, but negotiations are underway, so we should have news on that soon (although, again, editors have cleared off for the holidays, so it’ll be the new year before I hear anything now.) I’m also thinking of putting With Friends likes These up on smashwords, so that you can read it on Kindle, IPad etc. That, of course, means I’d have to finish revising it, and right now, I just haven’t had the time. But hopefully, I will eventually get the chance.

Anyway, have a safe and happy Christmas, everyone! Hope the holidays are filled with fun times and good friends :)

I was bored and scrawling though Google to see what people were saying about me and my books ( as authors often do, even if they don’t admit it ;) ) and come across this youtube video by mnmvampire who lists her ‘dream cast’ for a Riley Jenson series. I have to say, I could live with most of her choices, although Johnny Depp is far too good looking to play Gautier. I’m not sure about Winona Ryder as Dia, either, although I’d have to see her with blond hair and blue eyes before I could say for sure. But Christian Bale as Kade is just wrong, wrong, wrong. I think Djimon Hounsou would be more appropriate (loved him in Gladiator)

anyway, check out mnmvampire’s video–it’s pretty cool :)

Irene Goodman (of the Irene Goodman Literary Agency–who represent me) will be conducting a live webinar on Thursday, December 16th, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on How an Agent Picks a Client: From Query to Career. This event will give you an inside look at exactly what goes through an agent’s mind through each step of the submission process when making this all-important decision. And with this peek inside an agent’s mind, writers will see what makes a query letter stand out, what makes an agent request sample pages or a book proposal, and how agents evaluate single titles vs. a book series. In addition to instructing, Irene Goodman will be taking questions live during the webinar. No question goes unanswered, and all participants are invited to submit either a query letter or the first page of a manuscript (300 words or fewer for each) immediately after the event. All submissions will receive a critique. (Irene’s fee will be donated to charity—specifically: the Foundation Fighting Blindness and the Deafness Research Foundation.) The cost is $89. For further details, go here.

Amy Allen from Las Vegas. Congrats Amy! Your prize is on its way (being posted today–as long as the line at the post office isn’t too long. Hate waiting! lol)

There’s still nothing much else happening in my writing world. With all the edits coming in at the moment, my plan to get a good chunk of the 3rd Risa book done by Christmas has basically gone out the window. And I’m probably only going to have a couple of ‘free’ days for writing this week, because the line edits for Beneath a Rising Moon were sent last week, which means they’ll be in by Weds or Thurs. And of course, even though the book isn’t out for another 14 months, they’ll want them turned around ASAP. lol. Still no word on covers for the Ripple Creek or Risa books, but I guess that’s to be expected given how far off the release dates are.

As I said, nothing much is happening. If anything interesting does happen, I shall let you all know!
