Six Sentence Sunday time...

And it’s another Blackbird Rising teaser because the book is out TOMORROW!

In this teaser, we get our first glimpse of our hero…

He leaned against the bathroom doorframe, his arms crossed and his pose casual. The sword that had so swiftly dispatched the dark elf was nowhere to be seen, though the slightest shimmer near his left shoulder suggested it was now sheathed across his back—a position historians had spent centuries saying was illogical, as it was all but impossible to draw a long sword held in such a position. Unless, of course, you had gorilla arms, and the stranger certainly didn’t.

They were, however, very well muscled, a point emphasized by the somewhat bloody material of his shirt being stretched to breaking point around the bicep area.

The rest of him wasn’t exactly shabby, either.

Six Sentence Sunday Time!

Seeing it’s the first one for the new year, here’s a little teaser from the first book I finished this year–Deadly Vows (book 6, Lizzie Grace series–out June 2020)

It is, of course, totally unedited!

Aiden put me down gently then caught my chin in his fingertips and lifted my face. “It looks like you’ve burst a blood vessel in your eyes.”

“It was the stress of using wild magic to prop the wall. I’ll be fine.” The sudden sharpening of sirens had me glancing around; several ambulances and an SES truck were entering the parking area. “What’s happened to Belle?”

Six Sentence Sunday...

Yep, it’s that time of the week again!

This time, the teaser is from Blackbird Rising, which is now available for pre-order.

At the very last moment, the demon sensed my approach and swung around, but by that time I was already in the air, arrowing feetfirst towards him.

He screamed and raised his talons, but the blow missed and he got no further. I hit him hard and, with a squeal that was more surprise than pain, he was flung backward, out the window and down to the ground. There was a soft but sickening crack, followed by silence.

I hit the carpet, rolled to my feet, and ran to the window. The demon lay below me, dark liquid leaking across the concrete under his head. He’d hit hard enough to be killed, and I couldn’t be sad about that.

Six Sentence Sunday time...

This one’s only just over a year old…

I grabbed the gut busters, double-checked they were fully loaded and undamaged, and then returned to the cave’s opening. For a minute, everything was silent. Nothing moved other than the floating dust.

Then a big, hairy body appeared high in the air before thumping feet first into the trench. He wedged tight at hip level and began to pound and tear at the soil. I dropped the guns, grabbed the knife, and slashed at his legs, severing tendons and biting deep into bone. He roared and twisted, the earth shuddering under the force of his blows. Dust and stone began to rain around me, but I continued to saw at his legs, until one was amputated and the other hanging by threads. Blood poured from the remains of his limbs, a black river that spoke of death. This time, it was his rather than mine.
