hot water now available...

originally I thought it was going to take days…even weeks…for us to get hot water back, because most of the local supply/install places were flat out, and the city places don’t cater for us country folks. But I was talking (aka bitching) to my neighbour, and he asked if I’d tried the local plumbing supply place. Now, I didn’t even know we had a local plumbing supply place, so off I tootle. They just happened to have the perfect hot water service in stock, so I bought it. They delivered fasto-pronto, and the delivery guy asks if I have a plumber yet. When I say no, he gives me the name and number of a local guy. I ring local guy and he says he can come out that afternoon. And the best bit–he didn’t cost a fortune. Gotta love living in the country on occassions like this :)  Here’s the update:

Story–Captured by Vengeance

New pages – 10
Time spent writing – 8 (with breaks)
Current page count – 236
Intriguing things – a cop up to no good
Annoyances –  Story feeling like it’s dragging
Music – Dralion & Varekai
Location – The desk.
Taking care of Keri – didn’t get to the gym thursday or friday, so I did 45 min of the walk/run/hill program on the treadmill yesterday
Muse food – watched the first episode of Being Human–what a great concept! A ghost, a vampire and a werewolf, all trying to be ‘human’ while forces outside their personal lives want otherwise. It’ll be interesting to see where they take this one

nightly update...

I didn’t go to the gym today, which totally threw out the body clock and confused the dogs. They kept looking at me, wondering what the hell I was doing there disturbing their sleep. lol. But I had a builder in today, repairing the holes caused by taking out the old upright gas heater. He’s also installing some shelves in the laundry, which means I can get rid of the ratty metal unit I’ve been using. He hasn’t finished yet, so I’ll be home tomorrow as well. Which might be a good thing, because tomorrow was weigh-in day at the gym–and though I haven’t been eating chocolate, I also haven’t been sticking strictly to the diet. :)

But good progress was had on Riley 9. Here’s the rundown:

Story–Captured by Vengeance

New pages Eleven
Time spent writing – ten hours, off and on
Current page count – 105
Intriguing things – Quinn apparently co-owns a spa and pampering resort in St. Kilda. He and Riley are currently making full use of it.
Annoyances – Trying to write a love scene when there’s all this hammering and sawing going on. Said love scene was eventually skipped, and will be written when there’s less distractions.
Music – Cirque Du Soleil, Varekai
Location – The desk. Word.
Taking care of Keri – another cuppa tea in front of the TV, this time watching The Mentalist.
Muse food – A low fat white chocolate drink for afternoon tea–delicious, but low in calories. The muse was in heaven (but still couldn’t produce that love scene).

another new release....

The Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance is now available in both the US and UK. As I mentioned on the front of my website, this is the anthology that features Dreams, the short story from Quinn’s point of view. So if you were ever wondering what the hell was going on in our favorite (or not so favorite) vampire’s mind, this is the story that’ll give you a clue. :)   Here are the covers (US first, UK second)

In other news, I have my computer back and it’s almost up and running properly. There’s still a couple of programs I’ve yet to load, but at least I can now write, and edit my blog. But as often happens, other vital appliances are starting to go. The washing machine has decided to crap out, and the microwave is on the way out. I guess that makes it three, though, so hopefully nothing else will now go wrong (because these things always do happen in threes).

Writing wise, nothing much is going on. I’m still contemplating how to start Riley 8 (I might have the plot, but I haven’t yet figured out where to jump into the action) and I’m continuing to plod along with Mercy. It still feels like teeth being pulled, but I figure it can be fixed up at a later date. Right now, I just need to get words on page–and the damn book finished!

NY Times bestseller...

The Darkest Kiss has hit the New York Times best seller list (May 18th version) at number 16! Woohoo! Once again, I’d just like to thank everyone who ran out and bought the book–I literally couldn’t have done it without you :)

In other writing news–I have ARC’s for Destiny Kills. Only two, but I’ll be giving away one of them on my site once I finish the current round of give aways, so keep an eye open for that one.

Mercy Burns news–this book (which is the sequel to Destiny Kills) continues to plod along. The plot is slowly becoming tighter although I still think the current section is a bit talky-talky. Still, it’s words on page, so I’m not going to worry about it too much until I get all the words on the page, and I have a whole book to consider and edit. The hero in this one is a bit harder to pin down though–he’s supposed to be all dark and broody, but he keeps giving me these flashes of cheekiness. Which doesn’t exactly go with the dark and broody profile. I’m not sure if all of these will remain through the edit stage, but it does make him fun to work with :)

happy birthday...

to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to meeeeeee… <g>.

Yep, I’m another year older today (and I wish I could say I was another year wiser, but that would be a lie. lol.)  The day started off like any other–with me sweating my little heart out at the gym (and to celebrate the day, my lovely trainer kindly put up all my weights. Joy). But the three of us went to lunch at the local pub afterward, and the meal was delish, so that was a nice way to wreck the workout <g>.

Writing wise, the story–and the deviations–continue. I’d planned a very sexy scene in the lead up to the major fight, but that’s now converted into a chat with a ghost. But it works better, so I’m not about to argue with the muse. I’m 310 pages in now, so I’m slowly edging towards my goal. Oh, and for those who don’t read the first page, there’s now an excerpt of The Darkess Kiss available via my books page. :)

In other news, this pic came in from Tez Miller, and because her cat has brilliant reading taste, I thought I’d put it up :)
